Morning Herbal Tea

I started to drink lemon and ginger tea every morning after I read about Ayurveda, which is a traditional medicine treatment that was originated in India about 5,000 years ago. Ayurvedic treatments encourage daily cleansing of the body by removing toxins that accumulate on a daily basis. Root vegetables, such as ginger, can be used as cleansing property. This was the tea that I brought to share with my audience when I was giving a speech about the Ecology of Food at the Industrial Technology Research Institute in Taiwan. There were , a few more different ingredients in this glass: lemon, ginger, mint, lavender, verbena, stevia.

Here I would like to share “stevia” as an herb for natural sugar substitute, and it is a good choice for adding a bit of sweet in drinks for those who have diabetes.

Traditional Chinese medicine followers believe that stevia has the effect of nourishing body fluids, which can help digestion. In addition, stevia also has clinical effects such as lowering blood pressure, blood sugar, improving diarrhea and improving human immunity.

Please note that different herbs have different medical function on their own, so it is not recommended to consume the same kind of herb every day. A simple warm glass of lemon/ lime ginger tea in the morning is definitely a good way to the stomach and helpful for the detoxication in our body.
